It was ok, a bit old but a good value for money.
They charged my credit card two times for the same reservation, which added some more troubles to my life. Be careful on that!
Perfect location in the middle of the city, nice and spacious rooms!
It is easy to find and is within easy walking distance of good public transportation. It is well situated as a starting point for sightseeing. It is reasonably priced in an expensive city and it offers good basic comfort.
Reception staff is not helpful. The receptionist did not know that the Flybus had changed its route a week earlier. And, after she verified that the bus route had changed, she told us the wrong new bus stop. The rooms are a bit noisy.
The location is very good. The hotel/building is quite old but there was no problem about that since is renovated without destroying the traditional old look. The view was nice also. The breakfast was actually very good and environment was very cool as the variety like the panc cake maker....
Should establish better communication between the staff. We asked if we can get the same price of 125 euro and the woman in reception said that we could. We liked it and we asked the next day to stay one or two more and the reception said no, they wanted almost 40% more. I then booked elsewhere and when I payed he said that he contacted the manager and said that we could get it. It was too late. The room needed a bit cleaning, the beds were small.
The location of the hotel is superb as it is central to everything. Staff were very helpful. The breakfast was excellent and the choice of food was varied. It is self service so you can eat as much as you want. Because of the high prices in Oslo we were treating it like a brunch. The rooms were extremely clean The fact you could check out at 12pm is very convenient. Rooms are safe and secure and the hotel decor is attractive. I will definitely stay at the BWKJ again when I next visit Oslo.
I was staying in one of the inner facing rooms and the constant humming noise of the generator was very loud. I can imagine it would be difficult getting to sleep if going to bed early or not having had a drink beforehand.
The location is perfect for a trip to Oslo ... right on the main street with plenty of restaurants to choose from and an easy walk to the harbour, the fortress, and the train station. We did a 2-hour boat cruise out of the harbour and loved it! The Hop On Hop Off bus stop is only a 1/2 block away and gets you out to the Museum Island for more site-seeing. Staff is super friendly, breakfast is more than adequate, beds are comfortable and rooms are clean. Was expecting a fair bit of street noise, but didn't really notice it -- even with our window open.
It is an old hotel, very stuffy and noisy on the streetside. The breakfast was good and the hotel was clean. The lobby personnel was friendly but not forthcoming with extra information. The free wifi was not explained well and when I asked if I needed a password, they said, read the brochure. I did need one after all. This could be handled immediately at check-in. A bit of a bother it was, actually. Otherwise O.K. Some form of air conditioning would be welcoming.
Nice, a little old fashioned but pretty
I stayed for 3 nights and still was put into a room that directly feces out to the huge aircondition central. The noie when opening the window was impossible. Closing the window made it imbearably hot.I can't understand how the hotel can allocate such a room to someone who stays a full 3 nights.
The location was perfect in the heart of the city. My little one man room was simple but comfortable enough. The breakfast was very good, tasty fresh bread and large variety of meat, fish and vegetables, and more. My room facing the back yard was very quiet.
Karl Johan is an old hotel from the end of 1800, but don´t expect much romantic atmosphere. There is not much left of the historical but grand stares to the floors and a large but variable collection of old and less old mirrors on otherwise dull walls. My room, the corridors and the breakfast area are ordinary and ugly. The staff could have been more welcoming. I got what I needed, but without much enthusiasm. It happened that I was not greeted when passing by. Didn´t feel good.
Ecellent location in the middle of Oslo's main shopping street. Good, clean rooms and nice staff at an affordable price.
Great location. Within walking distance of Central Station. Located near all city shops & restaurants and bars. Free Wi-fi.
I know it's Oslo and things are expensive but for the price I would have expected a better standard of room. It was basic. Paying for location I presume.
Convenient location and very quiet (I have stayed in a number of hotels in central Oslo and had issues with street noise, but this was very peaceful). Enjoyable breakfast provided.
Rooms were very basic (e.g., no shampoo etc in bathroom). Decoratively, it is an impressive building but the interior looks quite "tired". Felt expensive for what it was, but reflects high cost of Oslo hotels.
The staff were very helpful, the hotel is well located, the breakfast was good.
There seemed to be something wrong with the air conditioning which provided a constant stream of very cold air and could not be turned off.
Close distance to reastaurants And bars .
Mixed rooms And lack of control !
The hotel is situated in the central part of the city and we were able to get about very easily. The room was quiet and comfortable and the staff very pleasant and courteous.
The view from our room was horrid- but it didn't matter as we were out during the day
